How to read this book

This book moves when you move. Stop, and it stops. Scroll back, and it unwinds.

Four ways to read: The square of four squares stands at the foot of the page, on the left. Press it and choose.
The full book. The words with their pictures, their films, their sound.

The plain page. The words alone.

Pictures and words. The picture on one side, the text on the other.

The theatre. Sit back. The chapter plays at a pace. A voice comes later.
You keep your line when you change.
Day and night: The book follows your device. Night turns the lamp down, Day turns it up. It stays the way you leave it.
Chapters and stopping places: Chapters opens the whole book. Under the chapter you are in, it lists the stopping places: good places to leave, and to come back to.
Turning the pages: Scroll as you always do. Or press Pages: Next glides one screen and settles on a line, Back returns. Auto read scrolls for you at the speed you choose, and stops the moment you touch the page. On a keyboard, Space or J is the next page, K goes back.
Full screen, and the home screen: Full screen stands with the page buttons. An iPhone has none for a page, so put the book on your home screen: Share, then Add to Home Screen. It opens there with no browser bars, like an app.
Sound: The book is silent until you press Sound. Press it again and it is silent again. Films play only when you press them.
The cast: The people of the book stand beside the chapters where they appear: in the margin on a desk, in the column on a phone or a tablet. Press one and a passport opens. All of them wait on the cast page.
Your place: The book remembers your line on this device. Close it. Come back. You are where you left.
